This video shows you how to find absolute value of a number and how to do some integer problems with the absolute value, which we will do this week and a lot next week.

Multiplying Integers

Remember the rules of integers:  (-) x (-) = (+)
                                                     (+) x (+) = (+)
                                                     (-) x (+) = (-)

We will be watching this Bill Nye after we finish and get started the chemical changes in the Potato Lab.

Multiplying fractions

I know you guys have mastered this, your grades on the practice and the quiz have proven that, but it is still here for reference anytime you need it.

Tomorrow at a glance

Class,

Tomorrow, we will be looking at dividing decimals and fractions. You guys have mastered how to find the reciprocal of a fraction along with how to multiply fractions, so this concept will be a snap for you guys.

In science, we will be having our potato lab in class. We will be blowing up balloons with nothing but some hydrogen peroxide and a potato slice.  You guys will see a chemical change take place in person, so make sure to have your chemical changes notes when you come into class tomorrow. This will be a fun lab, and we will be having more labs next week involving chemical reactions and chemical changes. This is turning out to be a really fun year y'all!!

See you all tomorrow.

Don't forget to bring in your field trip permission slip tomorrow for Friday!

We really need to work on our multiplication tables and division tables as well. I assigned flash cards to people in class, and I will be calling home and checking from time to time with folks as to whether or not you are using them, especially if your grades begin to slip, so beware kiddos.

We will continue to order fractions, decimals, and percents, and integers for the rest of the week, and through Wednesday of nest week, and there will be a Unit 2 Exam next Thursday, October 9, 2014. We will begin Unit 3 on Friday,  the 10th.

We will be using fraction pie pieces and whiteboards for our exercises for the rest of the week as well as an outdoor activity or two, and we will be doing Fast on Facts from now on every day. There will be a Fast on Facts test on Friday, so you guys need to review, practice, and study those flash cards and ask for help from me in class, that is what I am there for........ to help you guys be a success. There will be a Quiz on Wednesday over ordering fractions, decimals, and percents from least to greatest.
