Combinations of Data

Field trip Thursday (March 27, 2014)

Remember that there is a field trip to Phil Hardberger Park on Thursday. Please , Please, Please do not forget to bring your permission slip tomorrow and your 8.00 or you will not go with us. We will be out all day, so dress comfortably, because we may be outdoors for part of the day.

Circle graphs

This is a good khanacademy video over pie charts or circle graphs. There is an explanation of how they work.

Stem-and-Leaf Diagrams

Stem and leaf diagrams can be a little tricky to set up, but this video lays it out very well and gives a really good explanation of how they work.

Reading pictographs

Here is a video on reading and understanding pictographs. This is another type of graph we will be discussing in depth on Friday morning. View this and be ready to discuss.

Reading Bar Graphs

This is a video showing how to set up a bar graph using collected data. We will be discussing this on Friday morning to begin Unit 9. It goes step by step.

This week at a glance (March 3-7, 2014)

Class,

     This week in math, we will be having math stations for Unit 8 Exam on Wednesday and Unit 8 Review on Tuesday. We will begin Unit 9 on Thursday and Friday.

     In English, we will be taking an exam over The Outsiders. We will also continue reading and analyzing text selections like we have been doing the last seven weeks.  We will start reading another book when we get back from spring break. We will also be working on sentence structure this week as well.

     In Science, we will be taking our science Exam in Unit 8 on Thursday and talking about space equipment on Monday and Tuesday.
