Tomorrow at a glance (January 23, 2014)

Hello everyone,

Tomorrow, we will be looking at a couple of math concepts such as area of a triangle and trapezoid as well as the area of composite figures. We looked at area of composite figures just before we left for Christmas and we are going to revisit them, so be prepared tomorrow. We will also be having a quiz over area of a triangle tomorrow as well.

We will be reading and analyzing a text selection also and continuing our Persuasion Project. Be sure to follow the Rubric I gave you today.

In Social Studies, we will be having some notes over Chinese history and their government as well as North Korea. We will watch a few short Youtubes for the notes.

In Science, we will continue our study of Forces and motion by studying pulleys and inclined planes, so be ready to take a few notes.

I am not sure if we will be going out for recess tomorrow or Friday because of the weather, so we will have some activities planned for inside.

Area of a Trapezoid

This is a good khan academy video over area of a trapezoid.

I know that the formula on your sheet give this formula as:   1/2x (b1 + b2)h but this is the same as saying:  (b1 +b2)h  is the same formula. We will look at this tomorrow also.
